This IDC study examines Thailand's telecommunications services, including fixed-line and mobile services. It also presents a five-year forecast, as well as major trends, in the market in 2009. The market fell with -4.1% year-over-year (YoY) growth in annual services provider (SP) revenue of US$5.9 billion. Outlook for the next five years expects the market will continuously slow down with the decline of voice service revenue. However, data service is growing and is starting to substitute for voice revenue loss and will finally spur Thailand telecommunications industry's growth.

"Even though the economic situation is recovering, ICT investment may still not be able to make a leap immediately. Users will start to invest more in ICT and telecommunications services, however, at a gradual pace, in order to play safe", says Worajate Charoennish, market analyst, Telecommunications, IDC Thailand.
