Pyramid Research recently released its Q4 2007 forecast for mobile and fixed service revenue for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, home to some of the fastest growing and biggest markets in the world and accounting for 35% of the $1,075bn in global telecommunications revenue in 2007.
Although Japan is still the largest market in the region, accounting for 35% of the region’s $372bn in revenue, it will be overtaken by China in 2010. The fastest growing market, in terms of service revenue, however, will be India, which will record a service revenue CAGR of 19.8% during the 2007-2012 period. As a result of fixed-mobile substitution, fixed revenue will remain relatively stagnant, growing to only $156bn in 2012 from $148bn in 2007. Mobile service revenue, by contrast, will increase by $97bn, reaching $322bn in 2012. Going forward, the APAC region’s telecommunications services market will grow at a CAGR of 5.1%, with China and India leading the way.
