The global point to point (PTP) radio market grew by 33.3 % in units in 2007, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research titled “Global Digital PTP Radio Market Analysis and Forecast, 2007-2012 4th Edition.”

“The PTP radio market reached an industry milestone in surpassing one million radios shipped in 2007,” says founder and President, Earl Lum. EJL Wireless Research is forecasting that the PTP radio market will continue to see growth through 2010 before experiencing a market correction in 2011.

In addition to the million unit milestone, another milestone was achieved by NEC Microwave as it surpassed Ericsson to become the world’s largest PTP radio manufacturer in 2007. “NEC has reached an incredible goal on a journey it had begun in 2003 and we congratulate them on this significant achievement,” says Lum.

“The Asia Pacific region, driven by India, surpassed the European market to become the largest market globally for point to point radios while demand from the BRIC (Brazil/Russia/India/China) countries equaled Europe in size.” says Lum.
